New European Bauhaus Festival 2026 – Experience the circular economy live

In 2026, RITTWEGER + TEAM will take part in the New European Bauhaus Festival with its own satellite event at the Circular Material Lab in Erfurt, contributing its expertise at the intersection of sustainability, circular economy, material assessment and circular transformation. The focus is on how circular materials can be not only discussed in theory, but also assessed, understood and applied in practice for a better future.

With the live experience at the Circular Material Lab, RITTWEGER + TEAM makes exactly this tangible on site: Which materials are fit for the future? How can environmental impact, circularity and application potential be assessed? And how can companies, planners and decision-makers derive concrete next steps from this?

The New European Bauhaus Festival 2026 brings together stakeholders from architecture, sustainability, design and industry to develop practical solutions for a liveable future. From June 9 to 13, 2026, the festival will take place in Brussels and across Europe through so-called satellite events.

The focus is on the core principles of the New European Bauhaus: sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion — as a connecting element between climate action, building culture and social transformation.

Satellite events bring the movement into local communities across Europe and around the world. RITTWEGER + TEAM is contributing with the Circular Material Lab: “Rethinking: How circular materials enable a better future.”

Material library to touch, feel, test and combine

We are firmly convinced that a well-designed material cycle concept and the right choice of reusable materials make a significant contribution to addressing the challenges of sustainable transformation in companies — our Circular Material LAB is the tool for that.

The circular economy is a key component of the EU Green Deal, which aims to reduce environmental impacts and mitigate the effects of climate change. A rapid understanding across all process levels is the basis for successful transformation.

Driven by this motivation, we launched the LAB project in 2015 and now offer a material library with more than 400 available materials suitable for the circular economy, as well as topic-specific workshops for getting started in the circular economy.

At the Circular Material LAB, we can:

  • bring together interdisciplinary material innovations
  • accelerate decarbonisation at the material level
  • offer material innovators a multiplier platform
  • open up new perspectives on materials in decarbonisation
  • make the value of material health, circularity, social standards, water
  • consumption and energy consumption visible
  • create a foundation for circular design and construction and support the exchange of knowledge and experience
