Circular Outdoor and Site Furniture.

As an experienced provider of sustainable, functional product design and well-founded circular concepts, RTTWEGER and TEAM distinguishes itself through solutions in the design and furnishing of public outdoor spaces and facilities with high foot traffic. These solutions adhere to the highest certification standards for eco-design while also incorporating economic and pragmatic approaches.

Less storytelling, less risk of vandalism and good for the climate

In the realm of outdoor and site furnishings, there are new opportunities arising within the context of a circular value chain. Our concepts take into account not only aesthetic considerations but also aspects of sustainability and climate protection. Whether it’s designing hiking trails, bike paths, themed paths, parks, gardens, playgrounds, or rest areas, our design concepts rely on innovative materials that are durable and resource-efficient. Natural materials like wood offer diverse design possibilities for benches and bike racks but are susceptible to vandalism and have limited durability. On the other hand, there are robust alternatives such as stainless steel, concrete, or fossil-based composite materials, which, however, have a poor ecological footprint and are expensive to produce. In our Circular Material LAB  we have identified new materials and material flows from the circular economy that are durable, cost-effective, and environmentally advantageous. By using these materials, we can promise our primarily public clients long-term savings and a positive ecological and climate balance.

Cradle to Cradle Certified® – one of the world’s highest quality standards for eco-effectiveness

The Cradle to Cradle Certified® product standard is currently the most comprehensive and rigorous assessment system for the sustainability of materials and products. Developed by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, it is based on the principles of the circular economy. For product designers and developers, as well as municipal clients, Cradle to Cradle Certified® certification provides a guide and rating system for designing and developing healthy and circular products.

During the certification process, five central categories are evaluated: Material Health, Materials Circularity, Renewable Energy and Carbon Management, Water Management and Social Responsibility. Material health looks at the chemical composition of the materials and their impact on people and the environment. Circularity assesses whether the materials can be reused or biodegraded at the end of their useful life. Renewable energy and carbon management refer to the use of renewable energy sources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂). Water management refers to the sustainable use of water resources. Social responsibility includes aspects such as working conditions, fair pay and social justice.
