Cradle to Cradle® certification is currently regarded as the most demanding quality assessments for products. The scope depends on the complexity of the product and the manufacturing process as well as the depth of the supply chain.
In order to maintain an overview of the extensive certification process and keep an eye on the essentials, a working level with a meta-perspective is required. As an authorised Cradle to Cradle® cooperation partner and agency with many years of reporting experience, we can offer our customers this working level.
In our role as a coach and intermediary, we act as a link between your company as the manufacturer and the certifying assessor, as well as potentially industry-specific project managers. We handle all coordinating tasks, systematically filter information, and take on the substantive (partial) preparation of various audits. The certification process:
A comprehensive certification process is required for Cradle to Cradle® certification. This process is conducted by an accredited assessor who examines and evaluates all aspects of the product, its manufacturing, and logistics from a scientific perspective.
The assessment is based on five pillars:
- Ingredients and material health
- Material cycle management and recyclability
- Energy consumption, renewable energies & CO2 management
- Managing water as a resource
- Social responsibility and fairness
Various audits and analyses lead to a classification of the Cradle to Cradle® Levels: Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. These classifications are submitted in the form of a comprehensive report to the nonprofit Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute (C2CPII) in California. A successful examination ultimately results in the issuance of the certificate for 2 years, which can be renewed through recertification. This ensures the regular confirmation of product quality. Innovative advancements in ingredients and individual recycling processes can lead to achieving a higher Cradle to Cradle® Level.
